The Building, Planning & Zoning Department is located within Town Hall at 105 West Broadway, Summerdale, AL 36580.

This department is responsible for developing & implementing the Town of Summerdale's Land Use Ordinance, Zoning Ordinances, and Building Ordinance.

The Town of Summerdale Planning Commission consist of nine members that are volunteers citizens that are appointed by the Mayor and Council. The commission holds at least one meeting each month. The duty of the Commission is to make and adopt a master plan for physical development of the Town. The commission shall adopt regulations governing subdivision of land within it jurisdiction. They also review zoning cases and make recommendations to the Town Council.

The Planning Commission meets the 4^th Monday of each month at 6:30PM, at the Summerdale Community Center. To be placed on the Commissions agenda, all plans shall be submitted to the Clerk at least ten (10) working days prior to a regularly scheduled meeting.

The Town of Summerdale Site Plan Review Committee consists of five members. The Committee reviews all residential developments involving the construction of three (3) or more dwelling units and all commercial and industrial developments, a site plan must be reviewed by a committee appointed by the Planning Commission prior to the issuance of a building permit.

The Site Plan Review Committee meets the 2^nd Thursday of every month at 6:30pm at the Summerdale Community Center.
